'I think the thing about all those artists is, the idea of defining who you really want to be and being that. In a lot of these cases, this whole idea of movies and music and TV shows and multimedia whatever, that's great, but it can also be..

..very confusing. And also, for your audience, if you don't define who you are or what you represent pretty quickly, then that can take away from everything you do in the future and cheapen any real art or any real thing you want to say.'

Miley Belgian interview translation from wellbeadream. Is Liam the love of your life?Almost all the songs I wrote are about him. 'Permanent December' is about me, being almost everywhere. But if Liam isn't with me, it feels like a December month because it's dark and cold. I also wrote 'Stay' about him.

Earlier I was the one who worked in a relationship, but now Liam works all the time and that's hard for me. I wanted to get his attention. Then Liam answered: 'It's not because I'm busy that I don't love you.'

I knew that, but I didn't want him to get on that plane. I wanted him to stay. And that's what 'Stay' is about. That's the coolest, I get to write songs for people who are important to me. And I wrote 'My Heart Beats For Love' about my best friend Scott. He's gay and it's a gay pride song for him.

The hysterical children. That’s what stands out most. The red carpet is lined with these screaming tykes, hundreds of small wonders packed ten feet deep on raised platforms. They are reaching out their hands for Him, shoving little notebooks and pink pens into His hand. The desperation in their cries has a familiar, specific timbre; they sound like hungry newborn infants.

It is March 27, and I am inching down the red carpet at Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards—embedded with Taylor Lautner, Twilight’s boy werewolf, now reportedly the highest-paid teenage actor in Hollywood. He’s one of the highest-paid actors period, having just signed a $7.5 million deal to play Stretch Armstrong in a big-screen take on a toy no one has seen in thirty years. Lautner’s regular security guard, a professional badass, notices me flinching at the shrieking. He smiles: “On the New Moon tour, I took Advil. Preventively.”

Lautner—dressed in a wool blazer over a white V-neck T-shirt (both gifts from the designer Neil Barrett), his dark hair shellacked into a skyward-pointing spear—seems unfazed. Is it always like this? I ask. So he tells me about Brazil. How he and his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart were trapped in a hotel suite when hundreds of teenage fans stormed the lobby, outwitted security, and charged the stairs to get to them. “We were in lockdown in this little room for forty-five minutes waiting for the SWAT team to arrive,” Lautner says, his eyes wide. “We said to each other, ‘Let’s say they get into this room. What are they going to do? Tear us to shreds? What do they want?’ ”

Finally we are at the door to UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, finally inside the building, finally moving toward our seats in the front row, when I notice: For a kids’ show, this is one fucking starry room. Adam Sandler, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Robert Downey Jr., Rihanna—they’re all within earshot. Avatar’s Zoe Saldana is sitting three seats away. Rosario Dawson and Olympic champion Shaun White will present the first award. It’s a tribute to the primacy of the youth market. They’ve all come to kiss the (candy) ring.

Lautner, 18, sits down and begins to tell me how honored he is to be here, how honored he’s been to be everywhere lately. Like at this year’s Oscars, where he introduced a tribute to horror films alongside Stewart. “I would have passed out if she wasn’t there!” Lautner says. “You’re looking down and you’re talking to George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio—and they’re listening to you!” This is his baseline sentiment: honest, enthusiastic bafflement. It’s probably the only suitable reaction. He talks about the MTV Video Music Awards, where he presented a trophy to his then maybe-girlfriend Taylor Swift, only to watch Kanye snatch the microphone. “I was standing behind her as it was happening, and 100 percent I was sure it was staged!” Lautner says, eyebrows raised. “I thought, ‘This was something that they rehearsed.’ I was enjoying the show! But then Taylor turned around and I saw her face.”

Just then, at the UCLA auditorium, Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, suddenly interrupts the conversation with a question. Katzenberg—59 years old, V-neck sweater, pleated khakis—leans in close. “Taylor,” he says, “do you have two minutes? Will Smith wants to meet you.”

A minute later, Lautner returns to his seat, winded. He looks around the arena, at the 7,000 fans and the lights and the cameras, and asks out loud, “Is this really happening? Am I really here?”

Those are pretty good questions. He might also ask: What on earth did I do to deserve that $7.5 million contract and the adoration of millions? He’s handsome, yes. But in two Twilight films, Lautner has logged fifty minutes of screen time. Total. In the first movie, he spoke 239 words. Oh, and he was nearly fired from the sequel before filming began. (More on that soon.)

Finally the lights inside the UCLA arena dim, signaling the start of the show, and when Lautner’s photograph appears on the JumboTron, the shrieking resumes. Lautner’s security guard rushes over with one last message, whispering something into his ear before disappearing again into the darkness.

“What did he just say to you?”

Lautner locks eyes with me, touches my leg and laughs. “He said, ‘If anything happens—’ ” Lautner points towards the exit sign—” ‘we’re going left.’ ”

*****

One week after the Kids’ Choice Awards, Taylor Lautner pulls up for lunch in Valencia, California, a suburb forty-five minutes north of Hollywood. This is where he lives, with his parents and younger sister, in a home that’s almost indistinguishable from the others in the neighborhood. Lautner suggests the Olive Garden for lunch. “Do you like this place?” he asks, a little unsure, adding: “My father turned me on to it.” Without glancing at the menu, Lautner orders the Toscana soup, then asks to substitute the Caesar salad for the house. Before the waiter can reply, Lautner interrupts innocently: “I know,” he says, “it’ll be a dollar fifty extra. That’s fine.” Well, yes. Yes, it will be.

If the Olive Garden seems an unlikely place to meet one of the most watched teenagers in America, so be it. The location is as clear an indication as any of how far he’s come, and how fast. His is a story filled with extreme coincidence, as if the heavens opened up and said, You. You with the teeth. Next year at this time, people will be able to draw your abs from memory.

Because he’s only 18, his creation story takes about thirty seconds, but it begins at a karate school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is 7 years old when (Random Fate-Sealing Circumstance #1) the school’s owner invites his students to a martial-arts tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. There, Lautner meets Mike Chat, a karate coach who’s been (Random Fate-Sealing Circumstance #2) a successful actor. Okay, he was the Blue Power Ranger, but still. Chat encourages Lautner to come out to L.A. for a martial-arts summer camp and later a monthlong stay. He hooks the boy up with an agent, and while Lautner returns home to Michigan without a job, he’s still getting calls about auditions.

Joe Jonas has been hard at work since he has been in Africa. He has visited every middle school in Maun and spoke about giving life your all and being all you can be in front of 5,000 people! This past weekend he also gave a free concert to 1,000 adorable kids singing every single word to all his songs.

Joe says, “I thought I had seen so much in my life already but it was like starting over when I got here. Everyone and everything is so beautiful and full of life”.

Joe has even had the opportunity to visit orphan babies and play soccer with kids from Love Botswana school. It is incredible the way someone can change peoples lives like Joe has been doing in Africa. This trip seems to be amazing and from the pictures you can tell how heartwarming it really is!

Nick Jonas visiting fans in the rain. NY Times article on Cambio: Cambio is the product of a partnership of AOL, the brand strategy company MGX Lab, and the Jonas Group, which represents the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Jordin Sparks and other entertainers. Thx @jonasTThelper & @betsybluee for fan pic.
It is being billed by its backers as a next-generation video network for the Web, a kind of MTV without the pesky middleman, intended for 13- to 24-year-olds who spend hours online but not enough time on AOL’s sites.

UPDATE: Kevin Jonas will reportedly 'be the official host and emcee of kickoff event' for American Music Festival's June 26 concert in Daytona Beach. Nicole Anderson told Girls' Life what the Jonas Brothers eat @ Kraft Services:

'Joe is a big health freak, so anytime that he’s able to, he eats a lot of fruits, veggies, whole grains and stuff.. Kevin is big on sweets like me. We’ll devour all the cupcakes! Nick makes a sandwich I think it’s Nutella with bananas and he started adding cereal to it. That’s his own creation. I don’t know if I was supposed to give away the secret recipe, but he’s obsessed with that.'

Buying a house with his millions? 'Um, you know, not so much. There’s really no point. I’m so busy. I really haven’t thought about it.. The thing I love is that my home life hasn’t changed. I still help out with the garbage. I still help out with the lawn.'

On going shirtless: 'Originally I was supposed to take off my shirt. The script [of Valentine’s Day] said we were walking into school and Willy takes off his shirt. I said, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa. Time out. He’s gonna take off his shirt in the middle of school? No, no, no. The reason I took off my shirt for New Moon is because it’s written in the book that way. And there’s reasons behind it.'

Trevor Boris, who writes the script for the MuchMusic Video Awards, chatted with Toronto Sun about Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers: 'I feel like Miley is going to be a little more open, that she’s trying to be a bit more grown-up and edgy these days. Last year, with the Jonas Brothers hosting, there were all these weird rules. Like, they wouldn’t say the word panties.'

And I can’t even remember why we were trying to say panties. But they had this long list of things they wouldn’t say. It is funny some of the things you run into when the artists. Maybe we can get Miley to say panties. So if you hear Miley say panties, you know, ‘A-ha, the writers have succeeded.’

Sometimes the magical stuff is the stuff that comes together fast. For example, last year at the very last minute, the Jonas Brothers said, ‘Yes, we’re totally up for a skit.’ It was 4 o’clock the day of the show. So we’re scrambling, but we come up with a great idea, we film it in like 20 minutes,

..literally just before they were going to do the red carpet. In the end we didn’t get it cut in time and it didn’t make the show, although it did make MuchOnDemand, and we do a behind-the-scenes special and it made that, too.'

Becoming more and more comfortable with each movie role, Kristen Stewart recently opened about how she needed music to get into Bella Swan mode for “New Moon” but not for “Eclipse.”

"I always listen to music, but I had particular music that I listened to on 'New Moon,' but didn't really have to for 'Eclipse,' " she told MTV News over the weekend. "I just listened to my normal music. Bella's less tortured. She's less conflicted. I mean ... it's the most she's conflicted about the love triangle [but] that happens sort of at the end."

Ms Stewart added, "The main conflict is the danger and the fact that she's losing her human life. That her family's gonna soon maybe go away. When I was doing 'New Moon,' I needed the music and I needed my iPod all the time and I needed to be in my own little head, but in 'Eclipse' it was more about the story was just different."

As for her choice when it comes to playlists, Kristen dished, "[I've] probably [been listening to] a little bit of both [Miley and GaGa]. But I don't know, 'The Climb' is my theme song — and I'm sticking to it."

Kristen Stewart confirmed that she and Robert Pattinson have sex in Eclipse: 'We totally have sex. Finally! We're man and wife now. They have a kid, and so I guess, to get there, you know, that happens.'

She also preferred kissing to Dakota Fanning over Taylor Launter: 'Taylor (and I) have so much fun with this stuff because our intimate moments are so few and far between, and weird. Me and Rob are always so serious because we have (a lot of) those scenes.' Kissing Dakota in The Runaways was less uncomfortable: 'I'm just going to have to say that because it's easier.'

Kristen told MTV that she loves Miley Cyrus: '[I've] probably [been listening to] a little bit of both [Miley & Lady Gaga]. But I don't know, 'The Climb' is my theme song, and I'm sticking to it.' Taylor said that 'Bella is a fantastic kisser.'

Circling back onto the conversation about whether The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn should be 3-D, a new interview FearNET’s Jen Yamato had with Wyck Godfrey (producer of Twilight, Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and, of course, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) brings forth some of the behind-the-scenes conversations being waged about the idea.

In the interview, Yamato asked Godfrey whether the employment of 3-D technology was still being considered by the Twilight filmmakers.

“We have considered it, and everything’s being discussed, but I know that part of a way to differentiate the two movies would be to have one be in 2D, and when she becomes a vampire we move into 3D. But we haven’t really gotten far enough to decide what we’re going to do. I’m of two minds of it, frankly, and I think everyone is; I don’t want to chase the format if it’s not organic and appropriate. If we think it is, we will,” he told her.

During the extensive conversations we’ve had on this site about the concept of a 3-D Breaking Dawn, most fans have agreed that Bella’s experience as a vampire may work well in 3-D but that the earlier sequences absolutely should not be. That said, do Godfrey’s statements here encourage you? If you’re agreeable to this position, you may also be interested in what Godfrey told her about the filmmakers’ plans for the earlier portions of Breaking Dawn – particularly the birthing scene.

“I think the one thing that we’ve done that we’ve really done in all the films is keep them very subjective and keep them from Bella’s point of view. So the conversations we’ve had with Bill, is that we’ll try to do something similar here; you’re with Bella’s perspective and her point of view of what’s taking place in the rush around her, as she’s in intense pain. Not so focused, objectively, on her body and his body and that. So I think it’ll be something like that, in terms of trying to make the audience experience and feel the confusion, almost, of what’s happening to her,” he explained.

The next time the Jonas Brothers release an album or announce a tour, they can skip “Entertainment Tonight” and YouTube and go straight to Cambio.

On Cambio there will be daily and weekly video shows, some created in conjunction with advertisers. A partner in the Jonas Group, Kevin Jonas Sr., says Cambio will be a “safe environment” to talk to fans. It is also a chance to bypass old media gatekeepers.

For the struggling AOL, Cambio is a major part of a content strategy that has gained a lot of attention this year. Cambio “is an investment in what we believe is going to be a future network for the Internet,” said Tim Armstrong, the chief executive of AOL. Video is the second fastest-growing category of online advertising, behind search.

Of course, AOL has a long and inglorious history of Web production, pockmarked with failures. AOL, which was separated from Time Warner at the end of last year, is just a shadow of its former self in a number of ways — fewer employees, lower revenue, less traffic.

AOL’s president for media and studios, David Eun, has taken to calling the company a “start-around,” because he wants AOL to act like a start-up even though it is in the midst of a wrenching turnaround.

Cambio, which means “change” in Spanish, certainly comes across as a start-up. In the three weeks before its debut, there was a rush to complete the site design and hire employees. Jonas Group executives emphasized that Cambio would include actors, musicians and athletes outside its roster, but did not disclose any other names.

To hear Mr. Jonas tell it, Cambio is about creating better outlets for artists like his three world-famous sons.

“We were acutely aware, early on, that things were suffering” in traditional media, Mr. Jonas said, citing the waning influence of popular radio stations and TV outlets like MTV. “Having the ability to reach your audience yourself — and the ability for the artists and entertainment company to interact directly with brands — was the future.”

YouTube, where many celebrities maintain their own channels of videos, was a rough draft. In some cases, Mr. Jonas said, the fan loyalty derived from online efforts greatly surpasses the attention earned through traditional media appearances, at a fraction of the cost.

Online videos also give the artists much more control. “Direct access is the most appealing thing for any major talent,” said Rob Barnett, a former MTV and VH1 programmer who founded the Web entertainment studio My Damn Channel.

For a venture like Cambio, having A-list talent is a head start, Mr. Barnett said, because the stars can “bring an already established fan base to the party.”

“But success is always based more on whether the content is great and sustainable in the long run,” he added.

Cambio will have one daily entertainment talk show, “Cambio Connect.” The site has hired a former MTV host, Quddus Philippe, to lead it, and an independent talent booker, Steven Schillaci, to line up guests. “Cambio Connect” will often be filmed at the Grove shopping complex in Los Angeles, and will rely in part on a video production platform called StudioNow that AOL acquired five months ago.

Other Web series are also in development. Cambio’s pitch to advertisers includes ideas like “Ghost Hunting With Frankie Jonas”; a scripted docudrama starring members of the band Honor Society; and a late-night talk show featuring the Jonas Brothers’ musical director, although it is unclear if they will all enter production. True to webisode form, if there is such a thing, episodes will typically be two to eight minutes long, AOL said.

Some content will be “artist-generated,” said Keith Wortman, the president of MGX, in an amateur style that mimics YouTube videos.

Still others will be directed by brands like Bayer Diabetes Care, which will sponsor a month of the charity series “Cambio Cares.” Nick Jonas, a diabetic, is already a paid spokesman for Bayer’s blood glucose meters.

“For the brands, they deserve more than a banner at the bottom of a video,” Kevin Jonas Sr. said, referring to the types of ads that are prevalent on sites like YouTube.

At first, the programming on Cambio will be modest. The initial series will include “Nick in London,” a miniseries about Nick Jonas preparing to appear in a production of “Les Misérables.” In July it will add “Cambio Goes Home,” featuring celebrities in their hometowns, and “Cambio Style.” A fuller version of the site is scheduled to appear on July 27.

In an interview, Mr. Armstrong asserted that Cambio would be profitable on its first day because of AOL’s infrastructure and the participation of big advertisers.

For the last year, Mr. Armstrong has been reorienting AOL around inexpensive blogs, articles and video clips. In the past AOL lacked what the Miller Tabak analyst David C. Joyce called a “strong strategy to monetize” such content. But Mr. Joyce says he is more bullish about the company now, adding that the current investments will lead to more viewers and higher advertising revenue.

Executives at the Jonas Group and MGX say they expect Cambio to become a brand in its own right, replete with energy drinks and music tours. But first they have to produce something worth watching.

“It’s not dissimilar to the early days of cable,” Mr. Armstrong said of the current period in Web media. “Basically, the younger generation has wired themselves. The question is, what content goes to them on those wires?”

After blogging about the Eclipse press conference Q&As with Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, HitFix provided highlights from Rob’s portion of the press conference:

11:53 a.m. Enter Robert Pattinson. This is easily the best coifed I’ve ever seen him at one of these events.

11:54 a.m. “I had to learn how to run properly,” Rob says of new skills garnered for this movie. “I spent a lot of time on a giant treadmill, like one of those wheels mice run around in.”

11:54 a.m. “I guess probably fear of failure and inadequacy complex,” Rob says in response to the “What drives you?” question. And regarding what he actually drives, he says “rental cars.”

11:55 a.m. “When he finds one thing to hold onto, that’s where the possessiveness comes from,” Rob says, explaining why Edward holds onto Bella so closely, noting that the character is becoming more integrated into the real world. He adds, ”Hopefully by the end of ‘Breaking Dawn,’ he’ll be like a normal 17-year-old guy, except very pale.”

Kristen took the stage at the Eclipse press conference yesterday following Taylor Lautner. HitFix posted live blog updates during the Q&A:

11:05 a.m. Kristen Stewart says she drives a Toyota Tacoma and also, sometimes, a Mini-Cooper, “Though I feel a little too flashy in that.”

11:05 a.m. “If I’m doing something that makes me happy and I’m not lying to anybody,” Kristen says regarding what drives her. “I have a lot of ambitions, but for the next few years, I just want to be an actor.

11:06 a.m. Is the saga taking over her life? “This is a unique situation,” she says, calling it “lucky” and a “serious indulgence.” She says, “This is obviously the one role that has put me in this epic position, but it’s just another movie,” saying that “I really don’t think about my career in terms of planning it out and what this does for me. This was just a part I really wanted to play and I was lucky to play it for a long time.”

HitFix was live blogging from the Eclipse press conference yesterday; here are a few of their highlights from the Q&A with Taylor:
10:34 a.m. Taylor arrives. Natty silver blazer.

10:35 a.m. “Probably the people around me. They’re what I care about. They’re my motivation.” That’s Taylor’s answer to the first question, regarding what drives him. He says he also drives a car that gets him from Point A to Point B.

10: 36 a.m. “I was bummed that I wasn’t involved in too much action… I got to kiss Bella for the first time,” Taylor says of new things in this movie. He says he and Rob didn’t compare notes.

10:37 a.m. “I’m so thankful for the franchise and everything it’s provided,” Taylor says, saying he’s had the time of his life. He says choosing future projects is a gut instinct. It’s whatever he can watch. It’s also whenever he can finish a script. He adds, “I want to challenge myself on a lot of different things.”
