Although they may be an unlikely pair, both Michelle Obama and Taylor Swift always manage to have their hearts in the right places!
First Lady Michelle Obama and the first lady of country music Taylor Swift took time out of their busy schedules to spend the afternoon playing football with NFL stars Sept. 8. Not only did the two participate in one of America’s favorite sports amongst elementary school children and NFL stars, they also drew attention to a special cause – childhood obesity.
Both Michelle, 46, and Taylor, 20, participated in drills and activities overlooked by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFL coach Tony Dungy in New Orleans, Louis.. Although these ladies might not be professionals on the field, they certainly are professional philanthropists: true do-gooders willing to make a difference.
When is Mrs. Obama not lending a helping hand? Michelle is respectably known for being hands-on in her personal campaign, Let’s Move, which aims to combat childhood obesity and is how she became involved in the NFL Play 60 campaign.
Although younger than Michelle, Taylor’s priorities are very similar. Besides writing catchy country-pop tunes, Taylor is reputably known for giving back. In May 2010, Taylor was dedicated to helping Nashville recover when deadly storms and floods hit Tennessee. She donated $500,000 to various relief efforts to show Nashville, the place where she started her career, that she cares. How sweet!
